Making Tepees

 In our Knowledge unit we learned about Native American tribes.  One of the tribes we learned about was the Lakota tribe.  The Lakota tribe lived in tepees that were made of bison hide.  The Lakota traveled with the bison and needed homes that were easy to pack and take with them so tepees were their best option.  The Lakota decorated their homes with different paintings on the bison hide.  Today the kindergarten students decorated tortillas using markers, then we rolled them and secured them closed with a toothpick to make tepees.
