We Have Butterflies!!!

    Upon entering the kindergarten classroom, we noticed our butterfly habitat looked a little different.  We didn't see the chrysalis that had been on the lid hanging down.  We investigated further and discovered a few of our butterflies had hatched!  One was newly out of its chrysalis and two others were perched on the sides of the habitat.  

    Because we didn't know when they hatched, we decided to wait a little while then make their food (sugar and water mixture) and feed them.  The students helped mix the sugar with the water.  Using the dropper they added several drops to the sponge for the butterflies.  

We will continue to observe the remaining chrysalises in hopes that they will hatch later today.
